There will be 70 players representing Cuba at the Americas qualification for the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup (19 February-1 March in Nicaragua and Honduras) and the Americas qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as stated by the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) (22-26 March Phoenix, Arizona, USA).

A total of 36 Athletes were Chosen in Advance by Cuban U-23 National Team Manager Eriel Sanchez.

PITCHERS (17) (17) Brayan Chi Montoya, Alyanser Alvarez, Carlos Font, Frank A. Alvarez, Yankiel Mayry, Uber Mejias, Andy Rodriguez, Dairon Mena, Yenier Zayas, Naikel Cruz, and Carlos Esponosa. Yosimar Cousin, Jonathan Carb, Adrian Sagarra, Yandi Molina, Luis M. Rodriguez, Luis A. Serpa, and Naikel Cruz.

CATCHERS (3) (3) Andrys Perez, Loidl Rodriguez, and Lazaro Ramon Martin

Daniel Perez, Diasmany Palacio, Cesar Prieto, Rangel Vicente Mateo, Rangel Ramos, Josè M. Fonte, Rodolexis Moreno, Denis Pea, Juan C. Lopez, and Rangel Ramos make up the nine infiltrators.

Group B in the Americas Qualifier for the U-23 Baseball World Cup will feature Cuba, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, and Panama.

Honduras will serve as hosts for this event. Each of the top three teams in Group A will proceed to the championship round (the hosts Nicaragua, Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Dominican Republic and Venezuela).

The WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup will be held in Mexico from October 2nd-11th, and the top three teams from the super round will qualify to compete in the tournament.

Manager Miguel Borroto of the Cuban National Team Selected the Following 38 Athletes for the Olympic Qualifying Match:

Carlos Juan Viera, Yosimar Cousin, Yariel Rodriguez, Frank Luis Medina, Yoennis Yera, Lázaro Blanco, Freddy Asiel lvarez, Yudiel Rodrguez, Liván Moinelo, Raidel Martinez, Angel Sánchez, Andy Rodriguez, Yamichel Pérez, Brian Chi Montoya, and Miguel Lahera are the fifteen pitchers.

Ariel Martinez, Yunior Ibarra, Frank Camilo Morejon, Yosvany Alarcón, and Yendry Téllez are the five CATCHERS.

There were a total of Twelve Infiltrators:

Yordanis Samón, Bárbaro Erisbel Arruebarruena, Ral González, César Prieto, Yurisbel Gracial, Dayán Garca, Edilse Silva La O, Pavel Quesada, Jeferson Delgado, Alexander Ayala, Leslie Anderson, and Yordanis Alarcón.

SEVEN OUTFIELDERS Yoelkis Guibert, Roel Santos, Alberto Calderón, Frederich Cepeda Cruz, Alfredo Despaigne Rodrguez, and Yosvany Pealver

It was decided that four players, pitchers Cousin, Chi Montoya, and Andy Rodriguez, and infielder Prieto, would represent Cuba in the qualifying tournaments for both the U-23 World Cup and the Olympic tournament.

Conclusion

Cuba, Venezuela, Canada, and Colombia will all make up Group B in the Americas Olympic Qualifier. The top two teams from Group A (the United States, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Nicaragua) will proceed to the championship round.

The victor of the super round will earn automatic qualification to the Tokyo Olympics, while the runners-up and third-place finishers will compete in the Final Qualifier from April 1-5 in Chinese Taipei.
